Meet Our Member: Kendall Antron of The Made In Indy Podcast

Meet Kendall Antron, actor, writer, and the creator/host of the Made In Indy podcast. Made In Indy is a collection of curated conversations from the rich landscape of artists, entrepreneurs, and creators of Indianapolis. As a host, Kendall’s vibrant personality establishes a supportive, optimistic space where locals can showcase their strengths while gaining visibility. Ultimately, the show celebrates the Circle City, pays homage to its icons and hidden gems, and uncovers how exactly they became Made in Indy.

What does your business do?

I curate conversations that highlight the unique creative tapestry of the Circle City. The overall mission and goal of Made In Indy is to provide a platform that builds community. The podcast comes from an independent lens, there’s no huge conglomerate involved; it’s the voice of the people.

What drew you to becoming an entrepreneur?

As a digital content creator, becoming an entrepreneur is a natural evolution.

In short, I attended university on the East Coast and spent over 10 years away from Indy. Once I finally returned to my hometown, I didn’t recognize the city. I felt like I needed to find an organic way to connect to my community while utilizing the skills and talents I developed during my time away. From there, I created Made In Indy.

What advice would you give to those thinking of starting their own business?

Follow your bliss, and let it guide you. To elaborate, allow yourself to love what you do, and do what you love. My gift and passion have always been talking to people from all walks of life. My love for talk shows and podcasting allowed me to truly use my talents and engage with my community.

I believe in becoming a master of your craft (in whatever you do). By becoming a master of your skills, you can flourish in your role.

Why do you feel it is important to be known as a local business?

Being local creates camaraderie within our communities, and it allows us to create more equitable spaces.

What is the biggest challenge in your industry?

Initially, finding where you fit into a space that has already been developed is an obstacle one may face. The best way to overcome this obstacle is to truly become a member of your community, and I believe that’s how you find genuine resources. Additionally, access to working capital is another common obstacle in the digital media realm.

What new events or plans do you have in the near future?

The Season 1 Wrap Party! It’s currently in the works, but the vision is a huge gala/block party for all members of the show and the Indianapolis community. Plus, this fall I will be launching Made In Indy TV, which will feel more like a Larry King-inspired talk show.

What is one fun fact about yourself or your business that people may not know about?

More recently, we are working with local musicians to create virtual shows. As for a fun fact about myself, I lived Tokyo during my hardcore songwriting days and an artist invited me to go on tour with them!
