Georgetown Road Corridor Now Open, Local Businesses Seeing Sales Increases

Mayor Greg Ballard joined Indianapolis city leaders and Pike Township business owners and residents last Wednesday, October 14 at BBI Café and Sandwich Bar on the city’s northwest side to celebrate the completion of major infrastructure improvements to the Georgetown Road corridor between 56th Street and 71st Street in Pike Township. The recently completed, $6 million plus RebuildIndy projects included added traffic lanes on Georgetown Road, enhanced IndyGo access, sidewalks and a multi-use trail all aimed at improving traffic flow in the area and increasing pedestrian safety in this busy commercial and residential area. Mayor Ballard, City-County Councillor Jose Evans and other speakers shared remarks on how RebuildIndy is making an impact on the surrounding community and preview future planned improvements for the corridor. BBI Cafe and Sandwich Bar owner Chef Amin commented that business has already increased since the construction has concluded.
