Joe's Movie Picks, Sept. 11, 2014

Awesome Con logo Indianapolis movies Hello everyone! It's September, and the summer movie season is over, but that doesn't mean we are all out of great movies to watch! But before we get to that, we have yet ANOTHER great convention coming to Indy! AwesomeCon comes to the Indianapolis Convention Center Oct. 3-5, and will feature a host of celebrity guests, cosplay, vendors, and panels to rock your world! Yours truly will be one of the featured guests at the Movie Critics Panel in Room 122 Friday at noon, so if you get to AwesomeCon stop in and say hi!  Be sure to get your tickets now and get your costume ready! On the topic, there is some kind of glut of comic/movie/pop culture conventions in Indy over the past year. We had Indiana Comic Con, Indy Pop Con, a HorrorHound and Days of the Dead convention, AwesomeCon, and, coming early next year, WizardWorld Indianapolis! And of course GenCon still takes over downtown every August. It's a good time to be a nerd in Indy! But back to the movies...so much for the September slowdown, as we have more movie passes to give away than we know what to do with. We have 3 just for next week! Just last night we posted a giveaway for "The Maze Runner," so get in on that if you want to see it! We also have passes for "A Walk Among the Tombstones," starring Liam Neeson, and "This Is Where I Leave You," starring Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, and Jane Fonda. If you are a fan of free movies, you have the chance to see 3 of them next week! New in theaters this week is another posthumous film from James Gandolfini, "The Drop," which also stars Tom Hardy ("The Dark Knight Rises") and Noomi Rapace ("Prometheus"). Also, the sequel "Dolphin Tale 2," starring Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd, and "No Good Deed," starring Idris Elba ("Pacific Rim") and Taraji P. Henson ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"). filmyap_logo_red_textJoe Shearer of The Film YapAbout Joe: Joe Shearer is the co-owner of The Film Yap, a collection of Central Indiana’s Premier Film Geeks.
