Join the Indiana Historical Society as they "March to the Sea"
Join the Indiana Historical Society as they continue their travels in commemoration of the Civil War Sesquicentennial November 4th through the 7th. During this trip, you will follow Union general William T. Sherman's famous "March to the Sea" from Atlanta to Savannah. The trip includes a tour of Atlantas Cyclorama, the world's largest oil painting illustrating the Battle of Atlanta; a tour of the Antebellum Governor's Mansion, which was briefly claimed by Sherman during the March; and a visit to the Brown House Museum, once Shermans headquarter s. You will also visit Magnolia Springs State Park, which was known as Camp Lawton during the war. This camp was noted as the worlds largest prison and the site of more than 13,000 Union POW deaths.
