The Lilac Kitchen

About Us

Amanda Van Horn, a local Indianapolis pastry chef and lover of all things food, founded the Lilac Kitchen to help individuals and families discover new convenience at home. She sought to offer cooking and household services that promote a fresh and healthy lifestyle while taking care of others.

How did we get here?

It’s not uncommon to start a business at any age, for any reason. My age just happens to be 35. I’ve held a lot of titles: assistant manager (of a Blockbuster no less), waitress, bartender, housekeeper, EMT, pastry chef (that one doesn’t go away), customer service, etc.
None of them really seemed to completely fit. Then I realized that perhaps none of them should fit, because each one appealed to me differently. My mom loves to tell me that I can figure anything out and be good at it. Short of physics, I think she is correct. Couple that with the complete satisfaction of helping others and a desire to be my own boss…and here we are.
I don’t know what the journey will be like, but I am glad you are sharing it with me.
The goal of this company is to enrich the lives of others by taking away all the small things that bog them down and prevent freedom to enjoy time with their friends or family or just themselves. We all have a million things to do (or so it seems), this business looks to lighten the load. Trustworthy, competent service and a friendly face to help.
Thank you!
